One of the highest death counts in the united states alone and in the whole world over 400,000 people a year have died from being a victim of drowning. Safety Safety Safety is key in every aquatics activity whether its boat related, recreational, competition, there should be a lifeguard in those circumstances, but there should be basic safety regulations and strategies that you should go over with the activity. Swimming or boating related making sure there are PFDs. These are know as Personal floatation device. I is required in every boating instance to have PFD on or within arms reach not underneath the seats on your boat or on the shore. There are 5 types of PFDs the one we see the most with boating is type 3. We also see this in teaching swimming classes at your local pool or for recreational swimming use for those who are learning to swim or have a hard time staying a float. These ideas and strategies should be taken into account when being in any water activity even if you are an experience swimmer anything can happen.
What's up James! This is so sad to read but also very informative. Drowning is a terrible way to die. I feel that everybody should aquatic safety should be taught to everyone. This is a common occurrence that should be easily preventable. I feel that you offer great options and information for an average person to read.
ReplyDeleteHi James, it is horrible to hear how many people pass away from drowning. Drowning is something that is 100% preventable. Everyone should be taught the basics of water safety; even the simplest of skills could save many lives. In my opinion, it should be a requirement to have basic water safety skills in order to advance to the next grade in school or graduate.
ReplyDeleteHey James! It's actually awful to hear how many people suffer from drowning in just a year too. Water safety is definitely something people need to learn more about and put more of importance on water safety. Some people just see the stuff as either rules stopping them from having fun or their PFD just being uncomfortable or in the way. It should be a required subject to learn in school. They should teach it more in elementary school and health classes at the high school level.
ReplyDeleteHi James, I really enjoyed reading your post because water safety is such an important topic. You did a great job explaining how PFDs work and why they are required for boating and swimming activities. Many people forget that accidents can happen even to strong swimmers, so safety should always come first. I also liked how you mentioned the different types of PFDs and their uses. This post is a great reminder that being prepared can save lives around the water.
ReplyDeleteDrowning prevention is such an important topic, and you make great points about how safety needs to come first in every water activity. Having the right type of PFD and knowing where it should be kept can truly save lives. Even strong swimmers can get into dangerous situations unexpectedly, so being prepared matters for everyone. Lifeguards, rules, and simple safety checks help keep fun days in the water from turning into emergencies. Thank you for spreading awareness and reminding others that water safety protects us all.
ReplyDeleteHi James! It's so unfortunate that this is something that is so common. Drowning prevention and just water safety in general is very very important. I think that everyone should take some sort of class, either in high school or college, on basic water safety and rescue. This won't completely solve the problem, but it can definitely help prevent a lot more incidents.
